Forums - Active Sync
Sticky (26 posts so far) | | Issue: ActiveSync won't work after installing McAfee Security Suite
Solution 1:
1.) Close ActiveSync.
2.) Open MS Outlook :
3.) Click Help :
4.) Select Detect and Repair :
Explanation: ActiveSync does not release Outlook from memory.
You can try this by not having Outlook open and clicking on Synchronize. Once it is done the Green Icon goes grey. If you launch TaskManager you will see Outlook listed under Processes.
The MSK plugins are injected into Outlook the first time it is launched so if ActiveSync runs it creates an instance of Outlook and the plugins is injected. When you manually launch Outlook the MSK plugin thinks it has already loaded.
If there are no other instances of Outlook running before you launch Outlook the plugin should load.
Solution 2:
Open SecurityCenter >> Internet and Network >> Configure. Click on the Advanced button under Firewall is enabled tab. Select Program Permissions from the left.
Click on Add Allowed programs. Navigate in the explorer to the Microsoft ActiveSync installation folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ if installed in C drive with default settings).
Add the following applications by highlighting the application and clicking Open:
* WCESMgr
* wcescomm
* rapimgr
* CEAPPMGR
Now select System Services from the left. Click on Add to open a port. In the "Add Port Configuration" screen, make sure to set the following as shown:
Program name = ActiveSync
Incoming TCP/IP ports = 26675
Outgoing TCP/IP ports = 26675
Incoming UDP ports = 26675
Outgoing UDP ports = 26675
Click on Ok. Check the checkbox before the port just added in the System Services window to open it. Click on Apply and then Ok. Restart the computer and then check for the issue.
Solution 3: (NEEDS QAS’s approval on this one)
a. Click on Start
b. Go to Run
c. Type services.msc and click ok
d. Right click on McAfee Redirector Service
e. Click on Properties
f. On the Startup type choose Disabled
g. On the Service status, choose stop
h. Click on Apply and click ok
Tnx to jeff for the update
